Community Guidelines

for the

Garden Party

Carlisle Pride aims to increase positive visibility of the LGBTQ+ community of Carlisle and Central Pennsylvania by providing opportunities to express and celebrate diverse perspectives, emphasizing acceptance of all individuals regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or gender expression.

Carlisle Pride welcomes participation in the Garden Party by all people regardless of age, creed, sex, gender identity, HIV status, national origin, physical or mental development ability, race, religion, sexual orientation, and/or any other nominal qualifier and asks all participants to engage in non-discriminating behaviors by respecting all other participants. The Garden Party is a family-friendly event and children are present. Nudity, profanity and obscenity is prohibited and violators will be asked to leave. Also, events such as ours may attract protesters and we strongly suggest that no one engage in conversation with them.

The rules of attendance are set forth for your protection and ours. By attending and/or participating in the Garden Party, individuals and organizations agree to adhere to all rules. Any person(s) or organization(s) violating these rules will be immediately asked to leave the Garden Party. 

Listen!

  • Carlisle Pride event organizers are charged with making sure the event runs smoothly. If one of them asks you for help or requests that you do something different than what you are doing, please listen to their directions.

  • In the event of an emergency, please listen to and follow the directions of the designated Carlisle Pride event organizers and Rescue/Emergency professionals.

Be safe!

  • Carlisle Pride attendees are expected to exercise common sense and avoid unnecessary risks.

  • Events like ours have the potential to draw protestors. Please do not engage with any protestors, as that is exactly what they want and will cause problems for all folx at the event. Remember: Feeding the trolls only make them grow!!

  • Stay hydrated! Take breaks from the sun! Bring a shade screen or umbrella. Wear a hat, and reapply sunscreen often.

  • In the event that you find yourself feeling light-headed, visit the first-aid tent or sit down and ask a Carlisle Pride event organizer for assistance.

Have fun!

  • Carlisle Pride welcomes all people. Visitors will make sure that all attendees have fun by treating others with respect. If a situation arises with another guest, please find a Carlisle Pride event organizer for assistance.

  • Please have as much fun as humanly possible, but be sure to do so without impinging upon the abilities of other guests to also have fun and enjoy the day.

Additionally...

  • Individuals or organizations shall not express any contrasting or contradictory message to that of Carlisle Pride while on festival grounds or other designated event spaces.

  • Firearms, weapons, knives, swords, fireworks, other explosive materials, etc. are strictly prohibited.

  • Distribution of literature is prohibited without written approval by event organizers.

  • Carlisle Pride is proud to support LGBTQ+ community health, and as such our Garden Party will be designated as smoke free. Alcoholic beverages and illicit substances are not permitted.

  • Pets are not permitted. Service animals are welcome.

  • Attendees are encouraged to bring their own camp chairs, blankets, hammocks, etc. for a comfortable experience.

  • If you find a child who has strayed, direct the child to the Carlisle Pride table. Guardians, if you become separated from your child, alert a Carlisle Pride event planner and then head to the Carlisle Pride table.

  • As a guest of Carlisle Pride events, please treat the spaces that we will gather at with respect. Please conduct yourself in such a way that we can continue to be invited back for years to come.
